Highly rated and much-visited waterfall worth the trip. The turquoise water and power of the horsetail-drop falls make it worth the difficulty of the trip. The biggest turnoff that could bother some people is the aggressive "guides" or boatmen who are necessary to ferry you to the drop. I realize everyone has to make a living, but these guys are pushy and rude. If you want to see the head of the falls and walk down (VERY strenuous and difficult) they won't tell you how to get there. Hint - turn right just before you encounter those jackals and follow the dirt road. Eventually you will come to a gate and a guy who collects a few pesos. There are a couple of very humble "hotels" where one could spend the night, if one's requirements are not too demanding. There is also a campground in town. It is for tenters or truck-camper or Class C boondockers only. Don't even try this road in a Class A. A real jewel of a hotel is about halfway from the turnoff from the highway from Cd. Valles. You cannot miss it - the owner placed big, brightly painted topes by the entrance. There is a lake and wonderful restaurant on the left and a luxury cabin-hotel with pool and individual cabins on the right.
