If you are a climber, a geologist, a rock hound, or a star gazer, Spitzkoppe is Eden. The diverse and breath-taking landscapes will force your mind to think in vast stretches of time. The Sociable weaver birds build tenement style nests that are occupied for up to a century. The Welwitschia mirabilis plants of the Namib Desert can survive for two thousand years. The Spitzkoppe ("Matterhorn of Namibia") is nearly 700 million years old.
Late afternoon and morning sunrise create beautiful pictures of the majestic mountains and rock formation. In addition, the camping facilities were deeply disappointed. Only one long-drop toilet for a few tenting spots, with no door or toilet lid, flying (and smelling) all over the place.
A nice fireplace, but we can go back to the reception to get no water except the 5L. NO showers or facilities for ablution or privacy. Only 4 showers for the ENTIRE campgrounds at the entrance to the campgrounds are quite a distance away. Little to no shade for most of the camping spots we've seen. All and all a beautiful place during the right time of the day, but very hot with no facilities make sure that I (on a motorbike) will think twice before spending so much money on a camping spot. (R120 without facilities or water).
