This Backbone Trail section climbs 1,550 feet over 3,67 miles, offering great views of Topanga and its surroundings. Hikers have the option to make a one-way journey with a car shuttle if a 7.6-mile hike sounds daunting. Be it a one-way, it is easy for trail users to follow the trail. The trail crosses a dense forest consisting of green grasses and bays in California. Hikers can also spot deer in addition to vegetation.
Take the South Topanga Canyon Road from the PCH inland. Turn left after 4.3 miles and head for approximately 0.5 mile on Old Topanga Canyon Road. Safely park and locate the marked trailheads on either side of the road.
No dogs or bikers.
