Hike to Huacachina

Located five hours south of Lima, the Huacachina desert oasis is home to a fantastic adventure tour called the sandboarding and dune buggy tour. This tour is both exciting and jaw-dropping, taking you deep into the desert to see the coast's massive dunes. These ancient sandy mountains are surreal and beautiful. And we welcome adventurous travelers to try sandboarding down the dunes! 

Peru Hop is the only direct bus to Huacachina, with busses going from Cusco to Huacachina and from Lima to Huacachina, as well as from Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa, and so on, saving you the trouble of taking a taxi from and to Ica with all your bags. You would need to take a bus from Lima to Ica or Cusco to Ica if you were to take a public bus. You'd have to find a local taxi once in Ica to take you to the Huacachina oasis. You'd have to do the same to leave Huacachina. Currently, the Lonely Planet states that this is the only way to get to Huacachina, but Peru Hop busses actually have direct access to the oasis, as mentioned above, because they have the necessary license. 

This small village is home to less than 1,000 locals, but every day fresh travelers arrive to do one of Peru's must-do activities... sandboarding down the famous dunes of Huacachina! On an incredibly powerful (and safe!) dune buggy, the local guides take travelers on a tour of these dunes, flying over large humps in what seems to be a never-ending sand desert. This is awesome in itself, but it gets even better as the travelers have the option of sandboarding down some of these huge dunes! This can be exciting as well as nervous racking and you will often end up with a sand-filled face but it's nothing a quick shower won't fix!
