When you get to the bottom the area and north is a nude beach. No dogs allowed. the climb up it's tough, a lot of stairs. But also multiple places to stop out of the way if you need to. keep in mind if going swimming that you will need to hike after too. as a inexperienced hiker I took this hike a few times, down was pretty easy, tough on the knees. up was pretty hard after a day of swimming. The state owns the northern half of the beach, where nudity is allowed. The City of San Diego owns the southern half of the beach, and though nudity was once legal here as well, it is now prohibited. Ware your suit for a dip at the bottom.
