Lake Cachuma

Located amidst acres of wilderness flanked by the picturesque mountains of Santa Ynez and San Rafael, Cachuma Lake is gleaming. Mild temperatures, typically sunny skies and well-known fishing conditions make camping here exceptionally rewarding during the winter months. In 1953, the County entered into a long-term lease to manage the 9,000-acre Cachuma Lake Recreation Area with the Federal Reclamation Bureau. The building of the Bradbury Dam in the same year formed Cachuma Lake.
