Description:

This picturesque lake is the second-largest natural lake in the state of Colorado. The cool waters are home to abundant and large trout, making it an ideal place for either boat or shore fishing. Paved and gravel roads encircle the entire lake, making an excellent scenic drive or bicycle ride. Ample public access includes Wupperman Campground, Red Mountain Gulch Day Use Area, and boat dock and boat slips.   From Lake City, head south on Highway 149 for 2 miles; turn right onto CR 30 at the sign for Lake San Cristobal. Travel about 1 mile to the lake outlet. CR 33 is on the left, and loops around the east side of the lake, connecting back with CR 30 at the south end of the lake.
