Pedley Pass Ridge Walk is a 9km (5.6 mile) hike in the Canadian Rockies. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended to reach the trailhead. The hike itself is extraordinary. The total elevation gain about 700 metres (2300 feet) with a max elevation of 2450m (8000 feet). The full hike is a loop, but those not wanting to do the ridge walk can proceed counter-clockwise to visit Bumpy Meadows, the Pedley Tarn and views offered by the rounded false-summit before heading back to the parking lot. Many who opt for the ridge walk hike the trail clockwise. This option allows for a very steep hike in the beginning, and so hikers reach the ridge early. The decent that follows is much more gradual and easy on the knees. Both the ridge walk and the false summit offer 360 degree views of the surrounding ranges, including a distant peek at Mount Assiniboine. It is an amazing hike and well worth the bumpy drive in.
