The tiny and secluded village of Assos, one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages on the island, lies just north of the stunning Myrtos beach. Built amphitheatrically around the peninsula of the same name, it is encircled by luscious green landscapes and green woods. Pine and cypress trees and the Ionian Sea's crystal clear blue waters create a unique combination, making Assos an ideal setting for relaxing holidays.
The harbor, with its colorful houses, is just for getting started and then drawing the Venetian fort back up the hill and the views are great.
Visit the castle, the simple stroll on the paved trail is simple, although the early trees providing shade will not deceive you-they will quickly give up! You can take the short cut, offer fantastic views to the south or do it back. When you're at the main gate, if you don't want to walk all the way round, turn right down the mountain until you achieve some of your left-hand houses. Go round the right hand side and there you'll find the south gate, entry from the short cut route, and even more great views.
