There may be no finer name for a surf spot anywhere on the planet other than Pleasure Point the jewel of Santa Cruz, California’s East Side surf scene.
Awesome beach to get away from all of the crowds and just enjoy the ocean. Waves are pretty good for surfing and it isn't as crowded as some of the other locations in Santa Cruz. There's multiple surf breaks in the Pleasure Point vicinity, all with jagged cliffs, spectacular sunrises and sunsets and so many waves. Also Pleasure point is great to take a walk on the beach if it's not high tide or surf if that's your thing. You see whales, dolphins, sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions and a variety of sea birds. At low tide, walk on the sea bottom enjoying nature and all types of sea animals: from starfish to abalone. Really great for kids of all ages. There are great stairs to the beach, but no ramp, so strollers, bikes, and wheelchairs have problems.
Getting there is easy. Take 41st Avenue west from Highway One, and head for the ocean. You’ll pop out at the Hook, another terrific surf spot. A few blocks west to 33rd Ave is where Pleasure Point proper begins.
