Beer Can Beach

This is a dog friendly beach. The best access to Beer Can Beach is down a long set of stairs at 1094 Via Palo Alto where you’ll find some street parking. There is also a trail from Sumner Avenue near Dolphin Drive that leads under a train trestle to the beach below. Parking on the streets near the trailhead is not allowed, however there is a bus stop at the intersection if that is your mode of transportation. The city calls this beach Dolphin/Sumner Beach as the local nickname of Beer Can Beach isn’t something they want to publish.The beach is a popular choice for both surfing and fishing.
