Poverty Point, Epps, LA. Is a UNESCO site believed to be one of the earliest works by America’s indigenous culture dating back to 1650 BCE. Poverty Point is wonderful. It is amazing to think that so many years ago, before our technology, heck maybe before the abacus, the people living there were able to construct such intricate and awe inspiring earthworks. The museum was well kept and very informative. There is a movie of the history and both walking and driving tours of the earthworks. The staff was very attentive and helpful and the picnic was quite lovely. This is a great place for families and anyone who enjoys nature, history and amazing wonders. The fee is only $4 and includes all the above. If you wish, you can also drive the tour route. Very impressive to say the least.
