Cefalù, one of Italy's most charming villages, is one of the island's busiest resorts and holiday destinations. It is located on Sicily's northern coast, some 70 kilometers from Palermo.
The Lungomare, or waterfront, is Cefalu's biggest sandy beach and a beautiful place to enjoy the hot Sicilian sunshine for tourists and locals. This runs alongside a promenade lined with cafes and restaurants and stretches just over five kilometers to the old town. During the summer months, there are plenty of lidos where you can pay a fee for sun loungers and umbrellas, but you can also enjoy public areas for free.
Lungomare is also one of the places for running in Sicily. The total route is 4.5 km one-way. You can start in the center of town and run west for 1.5 km or east for 3 km.
