The Kehlsteinhaus is a Third Reich-era building erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein, a rocky outcrop that rises above the Obersalzberg near the town of Berchtesgaden. We did a day trip from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden (short 30 min drive), parked at the Documentation Obersalzburg for 3 EUR, and took the bus trip up to Eagle's Nest. The roundtrip bus fare was 16.50 EUR, which is very expensive for a 15 min bus ride. But it's the only way to get there other than hiking up the mountain. The bus, however, was very organized and ran frequently (every 25 min). There is not much history left at Eagle's Nest. It has been converted into a restaurant. The views from the top are nice and would have been nicer had we visited on a clear day with good visibility. Unfortunately, it rained for 3 days while we were in Salzburg, and we could not have visited Eagle's Nest on a nicer day.
