The gardens are great almost year round. This is a beautiful sculpture garden. Full of history. The thousands of acres in Brookgreen's Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve are rich with evidence of the native plants and animals of the South Carolina Lowcountry as well as the great rice plantations of the 1800's. They have a visitor center that tells about the Lowcountry history of rice and indigo as cash crops. There is a zoo of local wildlife, walking trails a boat ride (Tickets are $8- adults and $4 - children in addition to the garden admission. Boat rides often sell out and we strongly recommend purchasing tickets as soon as possible when you arrive at the gardens. ) . bike paths and butterfly garden. There are playgrounds for the young ones. The Live oaks are absolutely gorgeous !! Exhibited within the gardens is the largest and most comprehensive collection of American figurative sculpture in the country, by sculptors who worked from the early nineteenth century to the present. The collection contains over 2,000 works by 425 artists . The admission included an additional day. LOVED this place!!
