Pfalzgrafenstein Castle is a unique island castle in the Middle Rhine Valley. It originates from the 14th century and has always served to protect the customs station in Kaub. The castle was never conquered or destroyed. Interestingly enought Castle of Pfalz was never conquered and destroyed, never fell into war, and never harmed by mother nature, unlike many other chateaux. Today it houses a museum and is unique because of its well-preserved buildings. It's worth a visit!
