Chand Baori is one of the most visually spectacular and the largest Stepwells in India. This place was built by King Chanda of the Nikumbha Dynasty, between 800 and 900 AD.
The Stepwells also called bawdi or baori, form a magical maze and the consequent play of light and shadow on the structure gives it a captivating look. The wells' steps built into the sides leads down to the water, and are over 13 stories deep with 3500 steps.
Entrance is free, photography is allowed, but all one can do is walk around the upper part, for which one doesn't need more than 15 minutes. Unfortunately, access to the well is prohibited, and it's due to safety and protection concerns.
The stepwell is must-see place if you are in the golden triangle of Jaipur, Agra, and Delhi, on the route of Jaipur to Agra, a little detour will take you to this place, You will be able to see and appreciate the excellent example of developed architecture of ancient India, Well preserved, well taken care of by the caretakers, worth a visit.
