Covered in blue painted tiles, this unique chapel in Old Porto's very heart should be on the must-see list of everyone. A total of 15,947 tiles cover 360 square meters. The photographs taken from these tiles depict St Francis' death, St Catherine's martyrdom and other scenes from the saints ' lives.
In 1982, the tiles of this monument, located near the Bolhão Market and the subway station, were restored. The interior is equally interesting, though simple,' hiding' the image of Nossa Senhora das Almas (Our Lady of the Souls), which dates back to when the chapel was first built.
This place is an amazing artistry, and I would say this is a MUST for all visiting Porto.
