One of the West's most spectacular canyons, too little known. Canyon De Chelly is a living canyon. Not overcrowded, very personal scale, Navajo welcome and real. The jeep rides throughout the canyon are better than Zion or even Monument Valley. Both the north and south rim roads have great expansive overlooks. Lovely evocative ancient ruins. There are plenty of great views along the drive. I recommend getting out at most of the stops and going on some of the short walks or even longer hikes down the canyon. The White House Ruins trail appears steep as you start out by walking down, but the hike up really isn't as painful as you would expect. The views are worth the effort.
