The hiking was fantastic! Hike the West Rim Trail (about 5 miles) and enjoy the fantastic views of the gorge. There is one strenuous portion of this trail - it is a lollipop shaped trail and the "stick" of the lollipop travels to the bottom of the gorge. There is a convenient access trail from the West Rim campground to the West Rim Trail. If planning to camp, reserve a spot in the West Rim campground. It has a shady tree canopy and the camping spots were not crowded together, there was a buffer of vegetation between most spaces. Showers and restrooms were very clean. In contrast, the East Rim campground had few trees and camping spots very close together. If you have an RV, the only negative is no sewer sites and the dump station is a bit far from the campground. We highly recommend doing the guided hikes/tours (especially the Sunset Hike on Saturday nights) to learn more about the park and its wildlife. The park is very family-friendly but some of the trails are pretty strenuous and narrow.
