The island lies about 20km east to Clifden, Connemara (N59), Galway Road. North of the lake contains grand Twelve Bens mountain range which is popular spot for the tourists. Around 200m offshore, lies the pine island which is well known among fishermen for trout and salmon and often referred by them as ‘fishing lake’.
