Deep in the Salento, the part of Puglia shaping the heel of Italy's boot, you'll find amazing natural beauty, a mostly rocky coastline with intermittent sandy beach coves, incredibly clear water and lots of sea caves. The Grotte della Poesia (Caves of Poetry) in the small town of Roca, a 100-foot wide sinkhole on the edge of the sea, is one of the most majestic and compelling.
Roca is located approximately 35 miles south of Brindisi between San Foca and Torre dell'Orso. Both San Foca and Toree Dell'Orso have several large and crowded beach resorts, especially in the month of August when Italians flock to the Salento for their summer vacation. Alothough us place is popular but it's never too busy. There Handrail for getting out have been helpful but a good way to spend some time. We went on a cloudy day but it was still crystal clear. Not sure if it was peak season we would have liked it so much
