Surf the hell out of El Capitan State Beach

Love this place. Camping like you are in the mountains, but only a minute to walk down to the beach. Most sites are good with room, but definitely check online or visit first to see what sites will be big enough for you, or have shade, etc. Only problem, gotta book 6 months in advance for the summer months, but that's standard with just about everything. Bathrooms aren't the cleanest....I think they could have had janitorial come through more often, but then again, it's camping! And in talking with the head Park District guy who was there giving a surf fly fishing exhibition, state budgeting has been rough on the parks, they don't have a lot of money to work with.
