For thousands of years, the massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas has attracted people. At Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, however, there is more than just the dome. The scenery, the legends and the rock formations are also magical!Explore almost 11 miles of hiking paths. Take our Interactive Trails Map on a virtual tour. All trails, with the exception of the Loop Trail, close 30 minutes after sunset. In wet weather, the Summit Trail may close.
1. Take some water. We took with us a camel pack and filled it with a fountain water. It's not a long hike, but it can get a little challenging, so water is a must.
2. Take a lot of grip shoes. Some parts of the uphill hike are quite steep. Appropriate traction is a must.
3. Take this slowly! If you need a break, there are plenty of rock formations suitable for sitting down.
4. Remember the wind.
5. Before you go in, buy an entry pass. At the entrance we saw a few cars turning away.
6. Come early.
7. Pay attention to other visitors. This place gets packet, and I'm pretty sure that the summit is the most popular trail as it leads to the top.
