The ramparts of Essaouira are the fortified walls that protected the town from invaders by sea or land. They are massively tall and thick and remain in excellent condition.
The sea-front ramparts contribute unique, high views of the rocky shoreline, and you'll undoubtedly want to bring your camera along. The well-preserved cannons are still in place along the wall tops, and one can quickly tell that this would have been a complicated place for enemy invaders to take by force.
There is no entrance fee, and visitors can stroll along at their own pace, free of hassle or vendors.
