Vast open views of the convergence of the rivers/dam area. Information posted at each view point so you know what you're looking at. Totally amazing to ponder the sheer size of the dam & lake & what it took to make it. Climb up the short hill to the overlook & well, look it over!
In Fort Peck Reservoir, Montana's largest body of water, more than 50 different types of fish swim. The lake is approximately 134 miles long and when full, it has a maximum depth of 220 feet. There are more than 1,520 miles of coastline, longer than the coast of California. The reservoir was created by building a 3.8-mile-long dam across the Missouri River from 1933 to 1937. Some of the hotly pursued species include walleye (serious anglers ' priority!), northern pike, paddlefish, sauger, lake trout, small mouth bass, and salmon from chinook. For larger vehicles, a paved road provides direct access to the Fort Peck Marina reservoir near the west side of the dam.
