Biking on Governors Island National Monument

My favorite activity is to rent a bike and go around the perimeter of the island.  Two hours is enough to sufficiently cover the distance, stop a few times to admire the view and to relax in the grassy picnic area.  If you're really lucky you can lie in the hammocks and stare up at an unobstructed view of the sky. The places to eat here are not much to squawk about, expect street carnival quality food, so it might help to bring food with you.  Because it's an island, anything they sell here is really marked up.
