National Park of Saxon Switzerland is located in eastern Germany, south-east of Dresden. This magnificent place offers countless ways to spend your vacation. There are more than 700 summits available to rock climbers, while for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, there are 400 km² of marked hiking trails, steep treks, paths, and some cycle routes through the National Park.
One of the most popular hiking routes is Painter’s Way (Malerweg Route).
This 110km picturesque trail loop of the Sächsische Schweiz is a fairly easy flat walk under trees or along the riverbank. Because of the dramatic landscape though every now and then there are climbs: usually long, magical-looking staircases leading you up and down through the forest.
