Castelluccio di Norcia is a small Umbrian village known for the beautiful flowering. Distorted in 2016 by an earthquake, it struggles to survive.
Seeing the city destroyed by the earthquake is very heartbreaking. But it's worth understanding the plains anyway. If you have a mountain bike, motorbike or convertible, if you don't have a mountain bike, you can enjoy horse rental service down below the city. But there's no need for you. Just make sure you see all the plains, Pian Piccoló is somewhat hidden, and you have to walk a little to view it. It's accessible from Norcia road, right after you reach Norcia's mountain pass, go right through a forest in no small camping car park, leave your car there and walk a dirt road up to the hill (about 500 m of the light walk, you don't need any tourist boots).
A great view of Castelluccio with its plain Piano Grande and the hidden little Pian Piccoló will welcome you. Also, don't wear slippers or flip-flops, wear enclosed shoes, the plains are full of thistles (you don't need tourist boots, just something to protect you against thistles).
