After walking 1.6km from the car park where we alighted, we arrived at the Snow Monkey Park at Jigokudani Yaen-koen - home to the wild Japanese macaque (popularly known as snow monkeys). It is interesting to see so many snow monkeys gathering around a hot-spring pond and many monkeys moving around the place, unafraid of humans at all. This is the only place in the world where monkeys bathe in hot springs - a paradise for these Japanese macaque. We saw a few monkeys bathing in another pool. An interesting place to visit.
