John o' Groats

Just eleven miles from Dunnet Head the little coastal village of John o’ Groats is that the start line for several embarking on the celebrated 'End to finish' journey to Land's End in England, some 876 miles away.

 

Walkers will follow scenic coastal ways from John o’ Groats on the north coast, from the east of the city to Duncansby Head lighthouse, and onto the massive rock stacks referred to as the Stacks of Duncansby.

Adored by drivers, youth subculture and cyclists alike, the North Coast five hundred is currently world celebrated for its remote, rugged landscapes. While you may not wish to stay within the whole route, you may set up each day following the section east of John O’Groats, stopping at secluded bays and sandy beaches for picnics and walks, absorbing the scenery as you go.
