A trip to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a must when visiting Northumberland. This different island a mile off the mainland in the North Sea is cut off twice daily by fast incoming tides!!!!. An additional walking path across the sands and mudflats is marked on Ordnance Survey maps and many online mapping resources. It is recommended that walkers use the stable path alongside the causeway road.
