Maharloo Lake, also known as Daryache-ye-Namak is a seasonal salt lake in the highlands of the area of Shiraz, Iran. 27.0 km southeast of Shiraz, the lake salt is rich in potassium and other salts. we were recommended to see this place by a friend, she said we shouldn't expect much as it is off the highway and it's also dried out (April is apparently a better time to go). we didn't know anything about it, we didn't see any pictures of it, we just went there (it's around 30 min drive from Shiraz) and we were a bit worried because it was getting dark soon (daylight saving, exactly on that day!) As soon as we reached, we were short of words......the place is absolutely amazing! It's probably one of the best places that I've seen in Iran, but that's just my personal opinion. We also saw the sunset, which made the experience even more memorable.
