This place is not to be missed for various reasons. On the way up, get a briefing on road condition and spend a while to acclimatize yourself to the altitude (2800m ASL). On the way back, stop for the stargazing program. If not in a hurry, come a bit later into the evening (like past 7:30), by when the sunset watchers incl.the tours will be mostly gone and the place will be less crowded. Once the sun set, we returned to the visitor centre and enjoyed a wonderful evening of star gazing. The staff set out 6-8 big telescopes and provide a superb narrated guide to the skies. Be prepared though and dress warm. It is cold up there and standing around for a couple of hours means you need lots of insulation. There are hot drinks and snacks at the visitor centre but nothing more substantial in the way of food.
