The tombs are with in walking distance of the medina. The skeletal remains of the Merenid Tombs are looming above the northern walls of the Fez Medina. Built in the 14th century, the tombs were once the sumptuous resting places of the finest Merenids, but after years at the mercy of conquests and looters, they lack most of their original decorative charm. The best time to walk there is just before sunset. Nice panoramic view of Medina and city walls in warm light.
