The arch stands close to the statue of Capt. James Cook, overlooking the harbour. There are great views of the town and fishing harbour. It's a popular spot to take photos of the old town, church and abbey on the opposite side of the valley; if you pick you spot carefully, you can use the whalebone arch to frme the shots.
