Salt Creek Falls at 286 feet is Oregon's second highest waterfall and a popular stop for travelers on Hwy 58. The viewing platform is about 50 yards down the trail after viewing the interpretive exhibits at the Salt Creek Falls Observation Site. A more difficult spur trail starts to the right of the viewing platform. The pavement ends at the top of the stairway, where the trail descends steeply into the canyon and ends close to the base of this magnificent waterfall.
The trail continues to loop around to the left of the viewing platform, offering a short hike back to the parking lot (50 yards) or a slightly longer hike (250 yards) through the picnic area following the Salt Creek.
Take the bridge to the Diamond Creek Falls Loop Trail from the picnic area across Salt Creek for a longer hike. This loop trail of 3.2 mile (5.1499 km) skirts the Salt Creek and Diamond Creek Canyons rims.
