Aileen Getty Ridge Trail is a 3-mile round trip loop offering visitors the most spectacular Los Angeles vistas including the Hollywood Sign, Burbank and Cahuenga peaks, and Wisdom Tree, and all of these during one moderate hike. Most of the trail is providing a decent workout for all of you who prefer to be on a trail instead of sweating in a gym, although some parts of the ridge, like between Cahuenga Peak and Mount Lee are more difficult than the rest sections.
The most direct way to access this trail is through the Wonder View Trailhead, accessible from the west. To get here, you need to park your vehicle at Lake Hollywood Drive, near the Reservoir. Then, start walking along Wonder View Drive, and after passing the yellow gate, you will see a dirt road trail which means that you are on the right path. Half a mile ascending from there, you will reach the first hilltop where you can rest under the shade of the Wisdom Tree.
A great spot to take a break and have a snack, and continue to Cahuenga Peak, the tallest peak on this trail, and the twelfth in the Santa Monica Mountain Range. Incredible vistas of the east and the west and breathtaking landscape is what you can find at this point of Aileen Getty Ridge, and then you can start descending through the steep boulders until you reach the saddle that connects Cahuenga Peak with Mount Lee.
After crossing the saddle, you can finally see the epic Hollywood Sign, from two lookout points, the Hugh Hefner lookout or Mount Lee mountaintop.
When you feel ready to go back to your car and have enough of the hiking adventure, follow the same path back, completing the 3-mile loop. Aileen Getty Ridge is a place where you will surely come back.
