State memorial to Australians who have served throughout the history of our nation in worldwide disputes. Inspired by classical architecture, First World War veterans designed and constructed the shrine.
The Shrine is renowned for its architecture and provides a multi-layered, meaningful and symbological journey. Set in an elevated place as the centerpiece of the expansive park lands at the southern end of the cultural district of Melbourne, the shrine offers unrivaled panoramic views of Melbourne.
Every half hour, a Ray of Light traces its path across the commemorative stone as it does every year at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month.
