Spend a day around Duden waterfalls

The waterfall and picnicking area around of Duden waterfalls attract both people from Antalya and guests from outside.The two sources of the falls, which have as much water as a river, are called Kirkgozler and Pinarbasi.

The waterfall, formed by the Düden River located 12 km south-east of Antalya; which ends, where the clear waters of the Lower Düden Falls drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea in a dazzling show.

Most tourist visiting Antalya only see Düdenbasi falls without noticing how these falls formed.

At the 30 km's of the old route from Antalya-Burdur (which goes through Dösemealti town) there appear two big Karstic source with sinkholes that are so big that they can swallow a huge river or a big lake.

The water which disappears at Biyikli Sinkhole goes 14 km underground and comes out again at Varsak pit; after a very short fall it disappears again from the other end.

Through regulator built in front of the Biyikli Sinkhole, the waters of Kirkgözler and Pinarbasi then gets directed into a canal and by again by a long canal to the Kepez Hydroelectric Plant where by a pressure pipe it is carried to the balancing funnel and then dropped over the plant's turbines. Then through Düdenbasi again by a long canal forms an artificial cascades. At the spot where the cascades fall into the Mediterranean and shape a waterfall. 

This is a beautiful place to spend your whole day. The place is child friendly and not too difficult for aged adults. There is a beautiful little mosque situated at the top alongside some amazing little shops and stalls. Tea sellers and souvenirs shops. The locals are amazingly friendly.
