The Bogatell beach or Platja Bogatell in Catalan Platja Bogatell is one of the most beloved beaches among locals and has relatively low rates of tourists visiting it.
To make the most of this amazing beach you can fancy a swim and enjoy the views of Barcelona’s skyline from the sea such as W Hotel at the far end as well as landmarks such as Frank Gehry’s El Peix d’Or and the nearby Port Olympic.
One of the reasons Bogatell beach is so popular is that it is located just opposite the up-and-coming neighborhood of Poblenou. Once the manufacturing heart of Barcelona, today Poblenou is experiencing a real revival as former warehouses become art studios and craft beer breweries pop up underground. Yes, this is where Barcelona's hipsters are.
Since there are affordable rental bikes all over Barcelona, you could also enjoy a bike ride along the Boulevard Passeig Maritimo. Or enjoy the locals build volleyball nets or play beach soccer and frisbee.
On Sundays, many people come for lunch since there are many excellent fish restaurants or to have coffee in the chiringuitos.
The beach was artificially constructed when Barcelona hosted the 1992 Olympic Games and the entire coastal zone of the former industrial and fishermen's quarter was converted into a beach zone.
