The Bürgenstock's 152.8-meter high lift feels like a heaven-bound rocket. The Hammetschwand Lift, at 1,132 metres, is the highest outdoor lift in Europe. Here you will also find the Hammetschwand mountain restaurant. This has been the easiest route up to the highest point of view around Lucerne since the start of the last decade.
Since the beginning of the last century this has been the fastest way up to the highest vantage point around Lucerne. And from the Bürgenstock hotel over the rocky Felsenweg path to the valley station on the inside of the rocks, you’re back out in the fresh air after a single minute in the lift.
Hiking paths lead from Hammetschwand back to the Bürgenstock – or you can go via "Känzeli" back to the Felsenweg path.
In winter you can see the lift illuminated at night–and noticeable from Lucerne.
The one way ride to the Top cost 10 francs and return is only 13 francs so we bought return ticket or else you can walk about 1 hour 20 minutes back to Bürgenstock resort where you can take the post auto to Stanstad or take the shuttle boat back to Lucern .Its worth the hike to the lift from Bürgenstock because the view of the lake is amazing and the hike trail is flat with some stairs to climb and you are under the shadow of the trees even in a hot summer day.
