Unforgettable Camping at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park sits in the desert near Agua Dulce Springs, encompassing over 932 acres of stunning rock formations, as well as a seasonal stream. The rocks date since prehistoric times when the sandstone formations were uplifted at a spectacular angle, showing their wavy red features.  Tiburcio Vasquez, one of California’s most famous bandits in 1876, used these rocks to hide from the law. Since then, his name stands as the synonym for this geologic treasure. The park is a known hiking, picnicking, and horseback riding location and has been a setting in many movies, TV shows, documentaries, and commercials.

The park is open every day from sunrise do sunset, 8:00am - 7:00pm (May 1 - September 15), and 8:00am - 5:00pm (September 16 - March 9). 

There are plenty of outdoor activities that people enjoy doing while visiting the park, and some of them include hiking, horseback riding, nature walks, picnic tables, and nature centers. For the ones who don't think that one day at the park is enough to explore its beauty, there are also camping opportunities with campfire spots that make a perfect spot for a romantic getaway in the wilderness. 

Bird watching trails and wildlife spotting is why a lot of people decide to spend the night in this wilderness setting, as the majestic deer can be spotted early in the morning. 

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is one of the best maintained that you can find, so if you are expecting to find overgrown paths and unmarked trails, you'll find the complete opposite. Clean and well-maintained picnic areas, marked trails, and safe nature trails that make it a perfect spot to come with kids, and learn about the park's history at the nature centers.
