Surrounded by vineyards, nestled in a green hill fold, Eguisheim is a medieval village whose tight, concentrated roads show the architectural merits of its half-timbered houses, beautifully flowers adorned. This enthusiasm has been awarded with France's National Floral Award's "4-flower" ranking since 1985.
The houses gates are very tiny reflectinga few hundred years ago. It's almost like getting into a fantasy. I would advise against spending your evenings or over night here, all that being said. There are very restricted choices for dining. If you like to meet other people in a public house or pub; which we do; in Eguisheim that won't occur.
How to Get to Eguisheim Village:
The closest train station is Herrlisheim near Colmar, about 3.5 km away. During your trip, it's better to have a vehicle, if necessary, as it also enables you to explore some of the other lovely neighboring Alsace towns, such as Riquewihr (remain tuned for our writing-up on this famous town).
